About The Blog

Hello!

Previously '#becumminpearse' now embarking on a new journey - weight-loss, TTC, health, happiness and everything in between.

My name is Renae Pearse, and I am a  Perth based Media Executive, Blogger, former podcaster and as of 2013 offical PCOS 'cyster'.

I have created The Holistic Effect to share my health journey from discovering I had PCOS, to navigating anxiety/depression and mental health, to riding the waves of weight-loss with all of you.

Here is a little bit about my Story:

I am not your average Aussie girl, growing up overseas and in cultures away from my native background, Australia, makes me an expat kid, more specifically a third culture kid. Living overseas was an incredible experience and one I will cherish for years to come. I have met so many amazing people, immersed herself in so many different cultures and learned so much about life and love and the world was literally on my doorstep. I studied a double major in Public Relations and Events and tourism Management at Murdoch University. After having a few different roles after graduation I wanted a bit more growth from my career so I  made the move to advertising and am now a media executive for an ad agency here in Perth.

I am recently married, we have been married just over a year and recently brought our first home.

Navigating mental health in the pivotal stage of my high school development was not easy - there is so much for me to share with so many young women who may be feeling the same way. However it was back in 2013 when I was diagnosed with PCOS.

Upon finding this out, Drs suggested I go straight on the pill to regulate my periods and manage the symptoms (BIG MISTAKE). Just before my wedding back in October 2019, after 8 years on the pill,  and finally learning about what the pill was actually doing to my body), I decided to stop taking it.

At the time, it didn't even cross my mind that I would suffer so many side effects from coming off the pill - I thought my periods would miraculously return.

Boy was I wrong and blissfully unaware of what else would follow.

Fast forward 1 year (how long it took to get my period back), I had battled with fatigue, migraines, no periods anxiety and the extreme struggle to loose weight.

It took me a whole year of trying various medications from the Drs to find out the best way is seeking a natural approach. 1 year later and my periods are back, cycles are regulating and im finally on track to start my family. All the above and navigating extreme mental health in high school is why I am so passionate about this blog and why I have so much to say and inform with all of you.

The is my holistic health journey and I hope you follow along.
